Representatives of Nuclear field from different countries participated in the training course
The training course ‘Multipurpose Irradiation Centre as the Component of Centre of Nuclear Science and Technology’ developed by Technical Academy of Rosatom and UrFU Department of Experimental Physics took place in Ekaterinburg on 11-16 of November. The course is created as advanced training for lecturers and researches in the area of implementation of multipurpose irradiation centres in manufacturing and education.
18 participants from Bolivia, Serbia, Uzbekistan, Zambia, Nigeria, Egypt and Jordan took part in the training course. Among them were six PhD students from UrFU. Department of International Educational Programs of UrFU were the organizers of the event and welcomed all the participants.
The program included theoretical and practical parts as well as industry visits. The participants were introduced to basics of radiation technologies, national standards and recommendations of International Atomic Energy Agency, metrology of radiation sources and radiation safety and other disciplines. In addition to that, the participants had practice in UrFU laboratories of and visited Cyclotron & Radiochemistry Facility TR-24.
The other specially-planned event of the course was visit of the Information Centre of Nuclear Energy where the participants met with representatives of Beloyarskaya Nuclear Power Plant, Institute of Reactor Materials, Russian Academy of Sciences, Ural State University of Economics and Ural Federal University. In the frame of panel discussion, the invited parties discussed different ways of using radiation technologies and questions of safety. The moderator of the Panel discussion was the Head of the Department of Experimental Physics of UrFU Vladimir Ivanov.
‘We received a lot of useful information which we can share with our lecturers and students. Besides, we performed practical tasks that would be impossible to do in our home countries,’ says Kristina Bikit-Sreder, Research Associate at University of Novi-Sad (Serbia).
In addition to the training program, ‘Rusatom – International Nerwork’ gave an opportunity to the participants to learn more about Russian Culture. ‘Day of Russian Culture’ was organized in the end of the course, where international guests could taste Russian treats and tea from Samovar, learn more about Russian fashion and try themselves as artists.

The training course ‘Multipurpose Irradiation Centre as the Component of Centre of Nuclear Science and Technology’ is part of the project ‘International cooperation in the area of nuclear education’ of State Corporation ‘Rosatom’. The project is performed from 2017 until 2021 and aimed to help with creation and development of national systems of nuclear education together with partner countries.
