Program Outline

The course is designed to provide a solid basis in the field of digital innovation for managers and entrepreneurs who aspire to play a leading role in innovation-driven firms. The course combines lectures, case analyses and student presentations. The readings are drawn from research of digital innovation management and entrepreneurship as well as from economics and organisational and institutional theories. The cases provide an extensive opportunity to integrate and apply these tools in a practical business context.

Modules

Module 1. Paradigm of digital innovation systems

The key principles of formation and development, elements and actors.

Module 2. Determinants of digital innovation systems

The functions and elements of digital innovation systems that organisations must determine to effectively execute digital innovation processes.

Module 3. Variants of digital innovation systems

The unique properties of various digital technologies enable different types of innovation systems with different paths of formation and development that are particularly rapid and difficult to control and predict.

Module 4. Strategies for digital innovation systems

The strategies that a firm must consider to most effectively exploit the value of their digital innovation as well as the potentiality of the digital innovation system.
