The participants of Summer University showed great results in working on innovative projects
On July 8, Summer University started Ideathone-2019 in Technopark Universitetsky. For three days students from India and France had been working together in small groups under the guidance of their tutors — professors from UrFU and representatives of the largest industrial and IT companies in Sverdlovsk Region.
"Ural Federal University pays big attention to the development of partnerships with the companies. Our students are future specialists, engineers and managers. Therefore, it is important for our graduate students to have advantages in the jobs market and meet the requirements of the headhunters. Graduate students of our University successfully work in different companies and industrial enterprises in Sverdlovsk and other regions. This is the result of close cooperation of the University (lecturers and researchers) with companies, industries and business representatives at the stage of studying and training in order to prepare future specialists," said Sergey Knyazev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Ural Federal University.
There were four major tracks included in Ideathone – 2019: “Mechanics”, “Civil Engineering”, “Energy” and “Education”. Each team had Expert commission – representatives of the business partners and professors from this area. The participants were divided into small groups of 4-6 people in each track and were given opportunity to choose the projects. Each day consisted of teamwork on the project and moderation sessions when students had an opportunity to discuss their progress with the Experts.
Some of the topics included: Big data, “Sensors”, “Automation”, AR / VR, “Robots”, “Machine Learning” and “Blockchain”.
During the final presentation students had to work as a team and present their projects to the Commission which evaluated the best project in each track.
The partners of Ideathone-2019 were Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant, SVEL Group of Companies, SKB Kontur, as well as Energy Diagnostics and Analytics companies, Effective Design and Technopark “Universitetsky” which provided the venue for this event.
“I was happy to participate in such event and was happy to see my favorite power controllers. We were happy with the results and are ready to start thinking about the possibility of an internship in our company for international students”, says Anastasia Khamidulina, Communications Manager at SVEL.
